Great Things to do in Costa Rica: a 10 part series
Part One: Zip Lining
Costa Rica is a fun and exciting place to vacation and has been delighting visitors for years, thanks to its varied terrain, with lush jungles, mountains and volcanoes, and over 800 miles of coastline. The list of activities and things to do in Costa Rica is long, and planning your trip is almost as exciting as taking the trip itself. In this ten-part series, we’ll discuss some of the many activities and experiences you may participate in during your trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica. From adrenaline rushes to spending time in the sun and sand, to dancing the night away with fellow travelers from all over the world, we’ll cover some of the best things to do in Tamarindo.
We’ll start the series by discussing zip lining options in the Tamarindo area. Zip lining is a unique and thrilling way to experience the lush flora and fauna of Costa Rica. Speeding through the air, with your harness attached to a cable, suspended up at the canopy, you have the chance to come face to face with monkeys, iguanas, and all variety of birds. While ziplining sounds crazy, it’s actually a very safe, fun experience for the whole family.
Over the years, zip lining has grown in popularity around the world, and now there are many ziplining companies to choose from in the Tamarindo area. Some ziplining companies offer package tours that include canopy walks on suspension bridges, waterfall repels, Tarzan swings, and other aerial, acrobatic activities. Tour operators will sometimes combine zip lining excursions with other events such as horseback riding, hiking, and hot spring trips.
Some of the most popular ziplining companies operating in Tamarindo and the surrounding area are Pura Aventura, offering canopy zip lining, horse bike riding, and mountain biking tours, Cartagena Canopy Tours, located just outside of Tamarindo, and the new Monkey Jungle Canopy Tour. These tour operators are all located close to the Tamarindo area. Transportation is included in your zip line package when you book, and while zip lining usually takes about half the day, plan on that being your only event for the day, once you factor in travel time. For those visitors to Tamarindo looking for a total adrenaline rush, consider a longer day trip with The Canyon Canopy Tour.
The Canyon Canopy Tour takes guests to Rincon De La Vieja National Park for an all-day excursion including zip lining, repelling through the Rio Blanco Canyon, horseback riding to nearby waterfalls, and relaxing at a rustic spa with volcano-heated thermal pools, steam and mud baths. Rincon De La Vieja National Park is located one hour and 45 minutes from Tamarindo, making it an exciting full-day event.
Zip lining is a must for visitors to Costa Rica. It’s an unforgettable experience and a great chance to experience the beauty of Costa Rica from a whole new vantage point. It’s fun, safe for the whole family, and something you do not want to miss out on while in Costa Rica.
