I have been coming to this oasis on the pacific ocean for over 10 years. If you are looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of our modern world this place is for you. I have stayed at all 3 places over the years with family, friends and solo. This property provides privacy, clean accommodations and is a short walk from the beach. I am looking forward to the next 10 years. Highly recommended for almost everyone. Enjoy!

My family and I just stayed another relaxing 9 days at Casa Linda Vista in Playa Grande. This was our 5th time of returning since 2004. We are from Costa Rica and live in the city, around San Jose. We really look forward to going to Playa Grande and Casa Linda Vista to relax and get way from work and our busy lives. We have always enjoyed the beauty, tranquility and peacefulness of the property and Craig ( Kai ) and Ruth are great hosts. We stayed this time in the large house, Casa Linda Vista, because my 3 sons were with us and they really like the surfing in Playa Grande. We have also, in the past rented each of the other smaller houses, too. All 3 of Craig’s different size houses are very clean and comfortable. They all have fully equipped kitchens where we can prepare meals which we like. The large Casa Linda Vista, also has a beautiful view of Playa Grande from the balcony. When looking for an affordable great place to stay the best choice is Casa Linda Vista. You won’t be disappointed. We will be returning again this Easter Week. Highly recommend. Erick Porras .

This morning, again we woke to birdsong and monkeys in the treetops. From our openair perch on Kai’s ridge I stood and looked around at blue skies over the hills. In the background the sound of perpetually rolling surf. Our son just returned from an early session at Playa Grande, a short walk down a lovely path from the door of our comfortable casita. Our eighth day is much the same as the first. Welcomed by our very helpful and informative hosts we found Casa Azul to be clean and spacious within easy walking distance of entertaining nightspots and simple marketing. The atmosphere is unhurried and friendly. The published descriptions and reviews are accurate and recommend Kai and Ruth’s property for anyone seeking quiet comfort within easy reach of everything a vacation should be. Our son has set out breakfast. Another day of Pura Vida.

We just returned from a week at Casa Linda Vista and could not be more pleased with our stay. First, selecting Playa Grande in the Tamarindo area turned out to be a great choice. Second, the hospitality of the owners at Casa Linda Vista is unsurpassed in my experience. The property sits up high with stunning vistas and the sounds of the ocean not far away. The house is clean, comfortable and very spacious. We met some family members there who stayed in the casita and we all just had a blast. The beach is wonderful and just a short walk away. There are also plenty of restaurants, a small store and other attractions all close by. Seeing the monkeys scampering around in the trees was really cool along with the other interesting birds and animals. I’m already doing the math on how soon I can get back there to Casa Linda Vista in Playa Grande!

Linda Vista was perfect for our Family

    Guest: toby(Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada)
    Date of Stay: July 2012

We just returned after a month in Costa Rica, staying in 4 different locations, and our week at Casa Linda Vista was by far the best experience. This secluded property, located centrally in Playa Grande, offered us a very special experience, with a stunningly designed 2-story house, on top of a hill, with a wonderful view over the tree-tops, exposure to the refreshing breezes, and on a meticulously landscaped property. The interior layout included large rooms, with tall ceilings, screened windows everywhere and a sense you were surrounded by the wildlife that abounded. With 2 young children and my elderly mother along as well, my wife and I enjoyed the ability to spread out in and around the house and to wander back and forth to the beach or down to the village centre as we pleased. The description of the property and photos provided were very accurate and house included all the creature comforts required, with the added bonus of a blender for fresh fruit smoothies! The beach itself had something to offer all of us, with its uniquely underdeveloped backdrop, chances to fish and explore the tide pools, wander up and down the uncrowded expanse and great surf for all skill levels! Craig ( Kai ) and Ruth were the consummate hosts, very sensitive to our needs and helpful with questions and assistance through our stay. Although we didn’t go inside the other 2 rental houses on the property, they also appeared attractively designed and well cared for, and separated enough from each other on the large property to provide privacy between guests. Given that Playa Grande is a very special place, in a very special country, Linda Vista is a unique and special place to stay, and we hope to return as soon as we can break away again!

This is the best keep secret in Playa Grande (we’re reluctant to share): Great owner, lovely setting that grows in beauty each year . . . With their lovely landscaping and simple, nicely kept spaces. Short walk to the grand ocean beaches . . . Experience peace of the tropical dry forest, green in the ‘green season’ . . . commune with monkeys and igauna friends . . . Chill out . . . Pura Vida!

My first visit to Costa Rica will certainly not be my last. What a wonderfully exotic, hospitable place. Staying at Casa Linda Vista was a spectacularly insightful choice made by my world-travel-savvy 30 year old daughter, an inveterate rock climber..

Casa Linda’s owners, Kai and Ruth, are caring, generous hosts whose devotion to making their guests’ stay as relaxing and rejuvenating as possible is apparent from their rapid response to our initial email inquiry to a warm welcome at arrival. Their care and concern for their clients’ enjoyment is exemplified by a comment Kai made to me while we were chatting as we walked around his garden’s splendor: “The people who come to my place are here because they work very hard at home and want to relax, so I do not intrude on their privacy unless some service is requested”. Kai is a real “mensch” (an incomparable Yiddish word (cf. Wikipedia)). I count few individuals that I have met in my 68+ years to be in that category.

I am a curious lover of nature, a landscaping enthusiast , photographer… after a career as a chemistry professor. Kai is a SURFER (#1)… landscaper, plant-lover, naturalist, a fascinating thoughtful man. I spent many happy hours traversing Kai’s Paradise surrounding his four rental units…much to his enjoyment and mine. I had numerous questions for him about the history of the place which he created from a jungle area in the late 1980s…and was astounded by some of the personal details he shared with me. If you care to take the time to get to know the exotic nature of the place, at least for someone from the northern USA, you will go home with a sense of amazement of the Earth’s diversity.

As testimony to Casa Linda’s attraction, I met two Canadian couples staying there during our visit. One was visiting for the the thirty-something-th time and the other for the third time. What better recommendation!

    Muchas Gracias, Kai and Ruth.

The world could use more individuals like yourselves.

We had a great visit with Craig ( Kai ). A calming vibe in his tranquil gardens nurtured our stay. We stayed in Casa Linda Vista a nice spacey two story house with views of the ocean and the jungle from the second floor. Even though you are a short walking distance from the ocean, you feel isolated as if you were in the mountains or the jungle. It’s a nice walk / short drive to restaurants. Kai is a wonderful host taking time to answer questions and help us out. It’s family friendly. A solid good stay.

My wife and I stayed at Kai’s casita for 8 nights, and we had an amazing time. The beautiful (and very quiet) beach is a short 5 minute walk from his property. There were howler monkeys in the tree tops several mornings, along with a variety of other wildlife. The casita itself is a very cool little place to stay. Complete with a fridge and hotplate, we did quite a bit of our own cooking. There is a small mini-mart right down the road, but I’d recommend stopping at a larger market before you arrive to stock up on essentials. My wife and I didn’t rent a car, so Kai generously offered to drive us to the nearby town so we could pick up some groceries. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and surf shops just down the road. Playa Grande is an amazing place to surf. We rented bikes from one of the shops and make a trip to the palm estates for a day. I even had the chance to try some hand-line fishing. Kai was a gracious host, and couldn’t have been nicer. His property is a little slice of paradise, and we were both sad to have to leave. I can’t recommend Kai’s place enough. If you want to avoid large crowds and enjoy a peaceful stay in the jungle near the beach, this is the place. You won’t be disappointed.
